Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) Seeking 2020 Summer Legal Interns
The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) is currently accepting applications for the following Summer 2020 legal internships.
Legal Assistance for Asylum Seekers
ASAP manages 3 unique private online communities connecting over 4,000 asylum seekers in deportation proceedings, including asylum seekers currently affected by the border crisis and who have been subject to family separation. In the communities, asylum seekers ask questions of expert attorneys, receive updates about changes in immigration enforcement, and share stories and strategies. And as part of our support to community members who have not yet found attorneys, ASAP offers remote pro se assistance on key filings such as applications for asylum and work authorization.
This legal intern will work directly with asylum seekers in ASAP’s online communities to complete and file a variety of forms, motions, and applications under attorney supervision. Interns may also help with other creative projects as needed, related to growing the online communities, creating educational resources, and improving services for community members.
